13th Julia Margaret Cameron Award – International Photography Exhibition

Into the Drain – Seattle, Washington

For me, submitting work is never an easy task.  I tend to approach it like someone contemplating whether they should jump into the Puget Sound on a freakishly cold day in February.  Even though a piece of me is eager, there is always a realistic amount of trepidation… thus it was a wonderful surprise to learn that of 5,610 photographs submitted worldwide, seven of my images were chosen for the exhibition.  Included amoung them is this long exposure taken on a very bright morning in dowtown Seattle.  The view from this corner of Boren and Howell no longer looks like this… perhaps the one and only time you could see straight across to the Paramount Theater.  Break out your magnifying glass – it’s in there!
